Fresno County is located in the Central Valley of the U.S. state of California.  The county, which is located south of Stockton and north of Bakersfield, includes the combined populations of both the Fresno and Madera areas.  The area was discovered in the 1800’s by Spaniards looking for suitable mission land.  The original county seat was Millerton, a town along the San Joaquin River.  However, after a major flood destroyed much of the town, it was moved to Fresno due to its proximity to the Southern Pacific Railroad line. Our lawyers have been faithfully serving the area for over a decade, we've even helped local stripper rental agencies with their needs.

Toward the later end of the 19th century, residents of Fresno county brought irrigation, electricity and considerable agriculture to the area.  In fact, Francis Eisen who led the Fresno wine industry, began the raisin industry in 1875 when some of his grapes were left to dry on the vine by accident.  To this day, Fresno is known as the most agriculturally rich county in the United States.  Also of note during this time was the discovery of oil in the Western part of the county which brought a huge economic boom.  By the 1900’s, Coalinga Oil Field in Fresno county, was the most richly productive oil field in all of California.  Today, Coalinga continues to produce oil and is the 8th largest field in the state.

Currently, the city of Fresno is 5th largest city in the state of California and the largest city in the San Joaquin Valley.  Due to it’s central location within the state, Fresno is considered a gateway to major recreational areas and attractions.  It is located a short 60 miles away from Yosemite National Park and is the nearest major city to the park.  Similarly, Fresno is 60 miles away from Kings Canyon National Park, just 40 miles from the Sierra National Forest and 75 miles from the Sequoia National Park.  Fresno, garners many visitors due to it’s proximity to Yosemite and the other national parks.  Those who live and work in Los Angeles frequently stop in Fresno on their way to the parks via highways 41, 99 and 180.  This lends itself nicely to the economy of both the city and county of Fresno.

Along with its proximity to national parks, the city of Fresno has many historic and recently added attractions.  Of significant historical importance and beloved to Fresno residents is the area known as the Tower District.  This popular neighborhood has grown significantly around the famed Tower Theater which was built in 1939.  The Tower District of Fresno is a hub of diversity, culture and the arts.  It is well known within the LGBT ( Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender), and Hipster communities and is an obvious hotspot for new restaurants, independent shops, nightlife, and community events.  A few events hosted within the Tower District include Gay Pride Parade, Mardi Gras in February, Jamaica My Weekend, numerous car shows, A Taste of the Tower, Halloween in the Tower, and the farmer’s market.
